Today is today. Tomorrow?..it will only be yesterday

“I wonder how a battery feels when it pours electricity into a non-conductor?” Arthur Conan Doyle

Very exhausted. Right guys?

The post today is based (again!) on the book ‘The soul is a verb’, Philip Backmo (Swedish). First part – Read Here

Most important take aways from Chapter 2:

1. Understand that we can never control the circumstances, but we can choose the direction.

2. What is ‘viability’? It is an energy, the soul and heart, our breath, being and liveliness. It is the essence of who we are. I’m going to say that ‘viability’ is the meaning of our life.

To find out what fills you with the energy is the first step to the happier you.

B. F. Skinner had proved that even the doves can play table tennis = people (or you!) can learn anything, but it doesn’t mean that ‘anything’ will fill you with the energy or make you happy.

3. If you don’t need to force yourself to do a task and it leaves you satisfied at the end – that’s your talent or strength.

Our society and universe need different kinds of strength. Brain aren’t the same. Someone is Albert Einstein, someone can’t put together 0+0. BUT! That makes the universe strong.

4. We doesn’t notice our strength often. The humans has build to see:

– failure
– deficiency
– lack

Your strength = you like it + you do it WELL!

But only ‘to like’ is NOT enough! Next time you are saying ‘I like to write, that’s why I’m going to be a writer…’ – think twice.

5. How to find out what gives you the energy?

For example, you want to be a pilot because you love to fly, blah blah. You are finishing your studying, practice and, finally, starting to work. You have invested in those skills (you have committed to the chosen profession). You like it.

Now ask yourself: do you get the energy back? Do you feel positive, motivated, alive?

6. Practical

2 lists

  1. Write when you feel tired, bored, irritated, angry (during the day)
  2. Write when you feel strong, positive, uplifted, inspired, motivated (during the day)

What dominates?
What did you do when you felt tired or bored?
What did you do when you felt positive and strong?

You can see your strengths more clearly now. But do not forget: it is not the strength if you can’t do it well!

Ahhhh, yes, I know… my best strength ever is eating candies too lol

!!! It’s good to know what kind of environment, people, purpose and things gives you the positive energy and makes you strong.

7. If only life would be so simple: find the strength – do it – live happy ever after.

Life isn’t a formula or ‘100 steps to make’. Life is more complex. Pam – para – pam and the energy can disappear! Why? You don’t know. I don’t know either. Everything changes, including you. You just have to be ready to change the way you live if you want to continue feeling happy.

BE READY!

“If you took one-tenth the energy you put into complaining and applied it to solving the problem, you’d be surprised by how well things can work out… Complaining does not work as a strategy. We all have finite time and energy. Any time we spend whining is unlikely to help us achieve our goals. And it won’t make us happier.”The Last Lecture

8. The most happy people are those who find the time to cultivate their strengths every day.

EVERY DAY!

Not time to time, not twice a week, not when I’m on vacation, BUT

EVERY DAY!

…they are also (often) the most successful people.

“Wildflower, pick up your pretty little head,
It will get easier, your dreams are not dead.”

  1. Hi Ray! I’ve been slacking off this year and I’ve noticed it makes me happy and I do it well. I wonder if it might be my best skill. Enjoyed your positive light shared here. Good luck to you for your studies.
