There’s never enough time to do all the nothing you want

I got so many ‘nothings’ on my list, that I decided to drop them all (too many nothings aren’t so healthy), and just rest. You may call it ‘being lazy’, but in my eyes – I have achieved a lot.

“Everybody seems to think I’m lazy
I don’t mind, I think they’re crazy.
Running everywhere at such a speed
Till they find there’s no need.” J. Lennon

I know I promised to post “The Pearl”, chapter 18 #dialogue, but I wrote it only today 😜. At the local library. It was peaceful until 2 young girls arrived and started to chat. Hm. Would be a great premise for the murder…

Ray’s plans during this week:

  • to finish all my poems (at least 10) and prepare the poetry book Legs: A Global Perspective on Society for editing.
  • to write 20-25.000 words or 4000 a day.

I’m absolutely free this week, and kinda fed up with the movies/tv-shows: I watched “Cardinal” and “Tin Star” (all seasons in 5 days; I liked both). And now I’m ready to work again – every day, from 10 AM to 2PM.

I mentioned before that “The Pearl” is a stream of consciousness… and it is true. I do not have any sheet of heroes, plot, list of characters. In general, I have nothing. Only the text (printed). I’m rereading the text each time I have to write the new chapter (using speed-reading). Then I’m sitting and writing (longhand only). Then I’m typing it (same day, usually afternoon or evening). Then I’m sending it to proofread (gram/mistakes). Voila – I’m posting on my blog. I’m never thinking about “The Pearl” or what’s going to happen there, and I’m creating all heroes ‘on the go’ = in that moment when I’m sitting and writing. More fun that way. Writing is supposed to be fun… of course, it is the lifestyle as well -> always to see beyond the normal (situations, dialogues, expressions).

I run 2 more projects (at the same time), and if everything goes well – I’m planning to publish 1 more book at the end of December – as a Xmas gift, la la la 💃🕺😜! It will be a collaboration-book and I’m going to post 1 of the chapters in August.

I also have an idea for the book about the asian girl Imee, working title “Left Hand Clara”, genre – thriller. Or maybe … half-of-an-idea. I have compressed half of the book (plot) into 4,500 words-story, and I’ll post it on the blog (in 3 parts). I’d appreciate any opinion (being bad is absolutely fine) -> question is: to push it and write the book one day, or leave it as the short story. Both works.

Hope you are having a great (productive? or lazy? or both?) summer!

Now reading:

  1. “Circumstances of Childhood”, John W. Howell (thriller)
  2.  “Opening the rose”, Libre Paley (erotica)
  3. “Love & Math”, Edward Frenkel (science)
  4. “The Day I’ll be dying”, Tayyib Jabbar (poetry)
  5. “Seeing things”, Seamus Heaney (poetry)

Also getting back to my Fitbit (steps, run, exercise) 😭😭😭

  2. I’m not lazy. I just don’t have enough time. I wish days were longer.

You also have a kid 🙂 I don’t have any kids, only 2 dogs 🐶. Easier to find time for writing + at least skipping to teach them how to live in this mad world 🌎:)
Im very lazy. Or maybe even obsessively lazy 🙂 I can drop everything and just do what I want = absolutely nothing for days or weeks 🙂 …or write full days or weeks 😅, cuz my family is me & husband only, and he’s kinda a grown up man😂
I wish days were longer tho… sigh.

Ok, you’re reading all that, writing – pantser style – and outline something for the future, as well as working from 10 to 2…. and you’re lazy? man, I never want to be lazy 😉

    • Victoria Ray NB says:

Lol but last week all I did – watched movies 🙂 😉
no, I’m writing text only from 10 to 2 this particular week (I’m free day time), but I’m editing and outline for future or working on other projects in the evenings too 🙂 reading is easy – I’m always reading 😂 personal record – 100 books in 1 month

There just aren’t enough hours in the day for all the nothingness!

Seriously though, you’ve managed to combine lazy with productive. Game. Changer.

  7. 🤔Is that a photo of you relaxing at the beach?

  8. Seriously Victoria you are far from a lazy lady🙂

  9. John cooper Clark when young thought poet was the job for him as as far as he could make out they just swanned around coffee shops doing very little! You should listen to his desert island discs, it’s truly wonderful. I like your attitude

I dunno, a nothing list sounds a great idea, the fine art of idling rather than laziness. Except from your lists, you’re a billion miles away!

I guess we are going to re-write “lazy” meanings! Poor girl in the picture needs to eat more!

    • Victoria Ray NB says:

    How do you do it😭😭😭😭😭😭?😂

    • Victoria Ray NB says:

      I don’t know 🤔 but 🤕 I also made a lot of jam 🥄🥣 (for winter) 😂

      • ortensia says:

Nooooo😱you also do homemade jam? You throw shame on all women out there 🙄😭well certainly to me🙈

      • Victoria Ray NB says:

Lol yes, I think i made 15 🏺 jars only … but plum is on the way 🙂
Eating homemade jam helps…with the writing 😂😂🤔

      • ortensia says:

I usually bring home a few jars of homemade apple and figs jam made by mum …..but it only help my hips get wider rather than my writing 🙄😂😂😂😂😂
