“The Pearl Territory”: short summary (chapters 1-9)

Places: Mars (Netericus colony) and Pearl (Kingdom of Mara)
Year: 2718
“Netericus” has 19,347 strict and 6,980 flexible rules.
Mars is divided in 9 “circles” (or regions):

  • Circle SciTech
  • Circle Energy
  • Circle FoodFarm
  • Circle Impro (studying, teaching, learning)
  • Circle BioMed
  • Circle Junk
  • Circle Rulers
  • Circle Casso (artistic)
  • Circle Seeds (kids; keeps separately)

Each circle has a leader. Every week, the leaders gather in the Ellipse Hall. They represent the government and call themselves – “Team Happiness” or HT.

“Soul repository” is the place where you can leave your soul. Being soulless is allowed for 1 Martian year (687 Earth days). Members are not allowed to swap or give away their souls. Humans still believe it is a sacred part of life.

Junk Circle – represents prison

Happiness Team (HT) – represents political system/or goverment

Advanced Way – the main religion of Mars (has a big influence on Martian politics and economics)

Rulers – a new kind of Police/Justice System

Hreens – population of Mara’s Kingdom

Story development:

A gamma X-ray hit the Earth and wiped out all the life there. Survivors (or the rest of humanity) have built the life on Mars –Netericus colony.

A group of six (Pain, Bou, Mimo, Alma, Ichi and Goe) has been send to Pearl, the ninth planet. Humans (both advanced and primitive) hope to find a new place suitable for living and breathing outside.
Pain and Bou are pulled inside of the Pearl, discovering The Kingdom of Mara deep under the ground. Mimo is following them. She is meeting Shon and Dante – the rebels (and the members of Ebisu movement) against Mara’s regime.
The group of ‘advanced’ humans (Cash, Alexis and Ola) is on the way to Pearl. Goe, Ichi and Alma are waiting them to arrive, spending most of the time inside of space shuttle.

Heroes (so far – 27):

Pain Berchpull – primitive, strong soul, experienced pilot with a wicked humor and super abilities. Ex-girlfriend of Cash and niece of Richard Daw
Bou (Boulder Jackobs) – gigolo and Don Juan, lost his wife and kid
Mimo Bauer – “straight forward”, following the rules, team person
Goe – from the old family of Magicians, hiding it from his team, gay
Alma – in love with Cash, smart and professional, hot-tempered
Ichi – … we don’t know much yet. Info in chapter 11 (19 June)
Shon – mutant and rebel, hiding under the Kingdom of Mara – in a village called Exodus, he is looking for the Crystal or Mara’s Death
Dante – ex-assistant of Mara, mutant and the commander of the rising wave of mutants/war against Mara’s regime. Looking for the Crystal.
Gzero Times – dead by now (drug addict), the leader of SciTech Circle.
Richard Daw – the uncle of Pain. He hate his niece. Or he loves his niece… (rumors: he is sexually abused her when she was a teen, but we don’t know for sure). He is the owner of the best Club on Netericus – San Francisco. Powerful and cunning man. Hires Cash to kill Pain
Bruck – the ruler (or policeman), primitive, in love with Elin, partner of his collegue and friend Faro
Faro – addicted to local porn and young girls, cad, can’t be trusted, partner of Elin
Elin – partner of Faro, working with kids, kind, righteous
Bill (aka Mercey Jones) – a criminal, escaped from Junk Circle, advanced
Cash – hate his ex-girlfriend Pain Berchpull, because she is the reason his sister is sitting inside of Junk Circle (prison). His sister Isabell sold drugs that killed ‘advanced’. Cash broke up with Pain and decided to become advanced too: nano-face.
Alexis – fully advanced, kick ass, sex is her jam, obsessed with Cash, often jealous, left soul in “Soul Repository”, pragmatic: a partner of Bruck.
Ola – advanced human, quite old, with a set of eyes on his back, jokes a lot, sees a lot, but keeps mouth shut.
Mara – the Queen of Kingdom, the Two-Faced Soul, the keeper of the Crystal
Rai – assistant of Mara, can swipe his appearances/faces, funny, sneaky
Carnelian Snabb – Chief of HS-Mission, he organised the travel to Pearl
Brian Kottler – the doctor
Marcel (a friend of Marc Chagall)

! David and Bathsheba (The Kings), blended into one face – an allegory for the two sides dwelling in everything: the hard and the soft, the good and the bad, the masculine and the feminine side.

King Arr (Egypt) – the one who hid the magical Book of Arr
David – 6-years old boy with a super abilities to see beyond dimensions/world/time
Callum Relman (aka Father Callum) – the Leader of Advanced Way Church (main religion of Netericus), dirty dude, mysterious, a bit crazy
Jacob – working in the Vault of Rulers
Eliza Gebel  – a new partner of Bruck (very young, straight from the kid-factory), religious fanatic.

As I said, during June & July I’ll post only “The Pearl” on my blog: 2 times a week – private journal and dialogue/scenes. I’m planning 70k novel.
To refresh the memory – 1-9 chapters to read

Here’s the first ratings for Dulcinea and The Death Code. I think it looks good for the debut novel. It’s cool when there’s a variation. You can read the reviews – here

Next posts – chapter 10 #dialogue (16/17 June); chapter 11 – Ichi, private journal (19 June)

  1. Loved the interview, Victoria Ray. I went to Goodreads to see the review by that one star only to find the coward didn’t leave one. Just checked a star. What a meathead. Anyway best on Dulcinea.

Thank you 🙂 yeah just imagine my face because it was the first rating 😂🤨
And true, I think any rating is ok, if the person describes what he/or she doesn’t like. I prefer pros/cons reviews, helps with writing in the future…
and yep, Dulcinea is alive & well, nothing can kill her 😂😂 she is a damn Code

  2. That’s a good interview. I entered a photo competition with the winner getting the highest reviews score. One of my friends reviewed and gave me 1, when I asked why he didn’t like the photo he said – ‘oh I thought 1 was a higher score than 5’.

    • Victoria Ray NB says:

      Haha no way! 😱🤪 what a fun-story!
But the rating is very ‘subjective’. Some – like, some – don’t.

  3. Team Happiness reminds me of the WordPress engineers.

    • Victoria Ray NB says:

Don’t need to go to far, look for ideas…everything is already around us. Probably too close 😂😂😂
