What is your ‘manifest’ of TODAY? How do you reduce your selfishness? Do you embrace the simplicity? Ok, send me the list of your daily desires.
So many???
Ouch!
That’s where the problem lies.
“Any intelligent fool can make things bigger, more complex, and more violent. It takes a touch of genius — and a lot of courage to move in the opposite direction.” E.F. Schumacher
As you simplify your life, the laws of the universe will be simpler too. Our Universe is a living example of simplicity. It is “pleased” with simplicity (as Newton once said). And the Universe isn’t a dummy…
Follow the Universe and ‘SHIBUI’ yourself!
‘Shibui’ is a term used in Japan – means ‘a subtle and unobtrusive beauty’. A person, performance or an object can be considered shibui.
QUALITIES: simple, silent, subtle and unobtrusive.
Anyone can ‘think’ or ‘be’ shibui. Because each of us is BORN, not MADE.
It is an approach to life, an attitude that notices and values the beauty in everyday. The simple truth is – as part of nature – our lives are enhanced when we connect with it.
Here are some suggestions on how to shibui yourslef…before it is too late:
- recognise and disregard unnecessary distractions
- remove all excess (clutter) from your surroundings
- walk more often – let this be your preferred form of transport
- echo the seasons in everything
- take quiet time alone, everyday, no matter how busy you are
- create, for the pure enjoyment of the process
At the end I’d like to throw your way 2 more wisdoms.
#1 What your fundamental problem is?
You have become bloody serious about your life.
Lose the grip and life will happen to you…
#2 Life without filter.
There’s a constant pressure to post/write/tell how happy you are = to show the outside. But nothing (and nobody) is ‘perfect’ under the sun. Appreciate the unfiltered joy and try to find the beauty and charm inside of REAL YOU.
“The world abounds with different aspects of beauty. The lovely, the powerful, the gay, the smart – all belong to the beautiful. Each person, according to his disposition and environment, will feel a special affinity to one or another aspect. But when his taste grows more refined, he will necessarily arrive at a beauty which is shibui. Many a term serves to denote the secret of beauty, but this is the final word.” Yanagi Soetsu

On the personal level…I’m still blogging, but in the ‘relaxing mode’.
Also I’m starting my study in October – ‘Cognitive and Motivational Coach’. Yo!
What is it? Cognitive coaching/psychology focuses on the way people process information. In other words, it is interested in what is happening within our minds:
- How do we receive information about the outside world?
- How do we process information?
- How do we solve problems?
- How does a breakdown in our perceptions cause errors in our thinking?
- How do errors in our thinking lead to emotional up-down or negative behavior?
Also I’m starting 3 different courses:
- Qigong course each Sunday, part 1 (because I’m planning to be a QIGONG teacher in the soon-soon-sooooon-future). I have to go through the basic level first.
- Spanish language, part 1
- Japanese for beginners
I wanted to go to Italian course, but it was full booked lol
My dog Daisy (french bulldog, 9yo) is feeling ok. Hopefully, the new ultra sound session won’t show any serious changes in her lungs or other organs (2 October we are going to Strömsholm’s Animal Clinic; near the palace – Stromsholm’s Palace)
Sky (shih tzu, 3 yo) is still Kick Ass!
The last news: I’m still working with the second draft of my book.

OBS! If I’m not blogging – I’m probably chilling. Understand, that Ray is a VERY LAZY person. Or maybe a non-action person…Yeah, I think it’s the right word to describe myself. Non-action is turning thoughts into things or deeds. Non-action is the process of creation, it gives you peace, joy and purpose lol
I know, I know, it sounds silly. But go ask Lao… he agrees with me.
Laziness is a state of apathy and purposeless. Life force ceases to flow. It is a living-dead feeling. People are usually unhappy and lacks the energy.
So yep, here I am – NON-ACTION, SHIBU-ing Human Being!
And who are you?
I used info from Donna Canning’s article.
Next post – #coolprompts
My mantra is love… Love wins
true 💕💕💕
I have no idea who I am, but I really enjoyed this post! All I know is that I want to be lazy. It may help me.
I really enjoyed this post! Good luck with your courses! “Qigong course each Sunday, part 1” sounds great!
I wrote “I really enjoyed this post” twice. I am stressed out. I really need the relax. Qigong will do it!
Qigong is on the way to your house 🏡 😂😂😂
I opened the door 😊😊💐
That’s a great attitude…:) but Qi Gong is very slow. Remember that 😂😂
😊💐💐
Lol Cognitive & Motivational coach, in swedish language = Almost 2 years studying. But first exam – cognitive psychology & coaching (after 10-12 month). So I guess I’ll write lots about it on the blog haha
Qi gong – because it’s the best way to relax & live long healthy life 🙂
And thank u
You are the energy & a philosopher 😉
You are so sweet! Thank you so much! Just in case still send that Qigong 🙂
I can’t imagine you as a lazy person. You seem to be busy all the time. Prayers for Daisy.
I’m doing a lot of things thru the day because I’m fortunate with “working from home”-position. But in my “core” Im a very lazy person 😂😂
😀
Im really loving this! My mantra is OHM to represent my originality. ♥️🤗
Om So Hum 💙💙💙 right back to you!
domo arigatou…there was a japanese restaurant in Miami called Shibui that my son used to take me on Mother’s Day. Loved it!
That’s where all ur Japanese knowledge is coming from – from the food 🥘 😋 yum!
I love Sushi, but now must have it microwaved, so chicken…no pun.
Wow..ok. But in Europe we don’t have real raw sushi 🍣 or sashimi = fish. I mean in restaurants. It’s marinated some way. At least that’s the law.
That’s good, there are lots of bad things that can be found in ill prepared sushi. We can get it raw..but I don’t.
Yeah, agreed 🙂 no raw sushi 🍣 in the house!
Nix that!!!
Japanese any day…I feel more Japanese than Spanish, in food 🙂
There both delish! <3 🙂
💙💙💙
I didn’t think you should “shibui yourself” without an adult diaper. But when I read further it made good sense! Carry on my friend.
scarp
Made me smile 😃
Oh life is full of surprises, let’s see how it goes
And thank you 💙💙
Indeed full of surprises.
Some really good food for thought in this post. How wonderful for you to be embarking on new learning. I love a day when I’ve leaned something new. Especially if I can remember it the next day!
Haha same here 😉 but I love psychology and Im expecting – it will be fun…
You are both funny and clever I need to reblog this post! Thanks Ray for this full of wisdom and humorous post I super enjoyed reading. And oh, I am one lazy lady here too! Lol
From “lazy” to “lazy”: humor & wisdom are born when we chill…
Hugs!🕺💙
Reblogged this on IdeaProvoker and commented:
If you wanna learn something new while being entertained, you have to read this post. Cleverly written by one of my favourite writers, Ray.
And thank you for reblogging 💕💕💕
Lovely, encouraging post today, Victoria, thank you. Who am I? I am humility, kindness, compassion, respect, laughter, and love. Except when I’m not. Ha ha ha ha haaa!
“Except when I’m not” is happening most of the time…I guess 😂🤪😬😬
A perfect Monday motivation! Loved it! ❤
It’s “So-Hum” all the way for me!
So: “That”
Hum: “I”
Therefore, the translation of So Hum is “I Am That.” Many Vedic scholars have interpreted the “That” in the mantra to represent the Universe, and it is now widely understood that the So Hum mantra symbolizes the fact that we are all connected to the universal energy that is constantly supporting and nourishing us in the ways we need and desire. It falls into the same concept as “oneness,” or “I am one with the Universe and all of creation.”
Oh thank you 😊 for this great reminder:)) I believe in “I AM THAT” & the sound of universe. It feels good that we r all connected. I have to look deeper into it :))✌️😃💙
✌️😃❤
Fantastic post!
💙💙
This was pure inspiration with a touch of humor. It’s pretty amazing how you are doing so much even though you still think you’re lazy. I gotta take few notes from you.
Cognitive psychology & coaching sounds really interesting..
I hope you get into the Italian class soon 😛
Warm Regards,
Dee Kay
Thank you 😊 lots!
I think I’m lazy lol because I don’t wanna do anything and I’m really enjoying “nada-moments”. Ahhh
No Italian for me for a while…it’s already toooo much studying for this year 😂😂🤪
I wish I could really think of something positive right now. Life always gets in the way of my happiness, people are unfair. The shibui in me is slowly disentegrating.
💙💙 all attention on the small things but the big picture…
agreed tho, some days sucks
Ppl are most of the time unfair, but keep your shibui light 💡 near…u never know when u ‘ll need it
Everytime I attempt shibui (渋い) I end up okasa reta (犯された).
Okasa reta…what’s that for fish 🐠? 🤔😃🙀 I’m just a beginner 🤪
No — it’s a dirty-dirty meaning ‘effed.’
Ouch…dirty is nice. I wanna learn some dirty words 😂
This whole message is beautiful and motivated.
Appreciation is a wonderful thing: It makes what is excellent in others belong to us as well. ~ Voltaire
I’m kinda motivated lol maybe bcz it’s autumn 🍂 😂
Motivation is good. A sign of creativity and positivity. 🙂
P.S I posted something new yesterday. 🙂
💕💕
🙂 Bless you my friend. 🙂
Thank u 💙💙✌️
You are very welcome my friend. 🙂
Wow I didn’t know this word “shibui” existed, but I was aware of its presence in asian culture. Anyway, good luck with your courses! That’s very ambitious of you to undertake both spanish and japanese 🙂
Lol because i don’t know which one I like the most…Spanish is useful tho but I have to study at least up to level 2 if I wanna talk fluently:)) we’ll see…
And I think it was u who first introduced me to 🇯🇵 Japanese words here on WP, in some prompt 🙃
Yea I remember there was this memrise post I shared a while ago 😅 I’m studying chinese tho, and I don’t speak spanish, but french. I’d love to say I could help you study if you ever need to but I can’t really 😔
Yes, but I thought it was Japanese 😆 anyway 🙂 Chinese is cool! And French too. But French was full booked in my city also 🙀😅
No worries my next language will be French & Italian 🕺
I love your ambition 💖 you’re aiming for almost all latin languages, that’s totally awesome!
Haha Yep 😉
Great ease with your studies!!
✌️😂😬
Shibui seems a great concept and aesthetic, the principles more useful than a glib ‘keep it simple’.
lol just found your ‘shibui’ comment in spam….nice, WP, nice…
I love the concept of shibui and your summary on “how to shibui yourself.” Working on it! 😉
Well autumn seems like a perfect “shibui” start :)) 🕺😸 lets do it!
This is such a good post Ray. Full of ideas to explore. I shall start with thinking about them in my quiet time.
just found it in the spam. I had problems with blog last 2-3 days, but hopefully it will work properly now 🙂
thank you for your positive vibe 💕💕
Classic👌👌
💙💙
From all you have said, I am in a full-on state of shibui, not wanting to leave a minute to idleness.
You got it 😉😉 and glad you r there 😎🤓
So true that everything is perfect, and if we were more honest about it then more people wouldn’t feel the need to achieve the perfection we don’t have 🙂
Ray, my dear Ray, you said you are lazy then proceed to give a list of courses, studies etc. I might have to go take a nap. It wore me out just thinking about it haha 🙂 I wouldn’t exactly call that lazy 🙂
Haha a nap is very healthy thing…Goethe said a pillow is the best way to learn language 😉😎
Arigato!!! (Thx)
well then, I should know several languages by now LOL
Haha agreed 😉 with our “napping skills”
Loved this post Ray 🙂
Congrats! Sounds like you have a really full next few months.
