Hocus-pocus or how to create an awesome book from a crappy unfinished material in 2 weeks…

Hello, February!

The one-month-long vacation is over and the reality of “damn, Ray… are you going to edit the book?” is here, slapping my face with a warning of fast-approaching deadlines.

In a world of Indie Publishing, jam-packed with frustration, chaos, confusion, anxiety, and laziness, it’s really hard to stay on track 24/7.

Things to remember when you need a push:

  1. No one cares! It is you against you.
  2. Every indie is an entrepreneur.
  3. Why do you want to tell the story?

Think: what’s the issue you’re hoping to solve or the gap in the market that you are hoping to fill? I want you to think this way because this is the only way to succeed.

  1. Why people need this product = your book?

We, writers, are transforming people’s lives – one word at a time. We came to this world to create a positive change within ourselves and the world around us.

You can do it by telling a great story, your story! The one that moves, inspires, enlightens, scares, shatters to pieces or fills with laughter. Pick up your lazy, tired, frustrated ass and move where you want to be – emotionally, financially, creatively and spiritually. Find and show the real you!👽

  1. Obstacles (in our case – unedited book) are opportunity to confront your daily chaos, thoughts, and reactions. The bigger the obstacle – the merrier! The bigger the obstacle – the more you can change! That means you have to work harder and without any pause or distraction. Yay? 💃

!! Do you feel the Joy of a Real HUGE HEAP of Work, lying ahead of you? Time to start the Battle against your lazy murky hell-of-a-mind! Resist Laziness, Ego, Insecure impulses, Judgement, Expectations, Lack of Confidence, Doubts or Selfishness!

If the outside message is: ‘You can’t write; you are a disaster; I don’t understand a word; out of standard; not good enough”.
Your attitude should be: “I’m writing the things that matter to me, my world, my happiness, and joy… so fuck, no! move on, you are blocking my LIGHT!”

Wake up, Writing WARRIOR!
Pick up Your Writing AXE

  1. Choose your own pace. I’m working in chunks: all or nothing. I always did so and I know it works for me. What works for you?

Wake up at 3am?
Typing in bed at night, squeezed between the books?
Writing during sex breaks while sipping wine?

  1. Publish that damn thing! Get yourself freeeeee!

The latest news:

  1. I finally sent the book about snail Nari (book for children 7-12yo) to the team of my Swedish illustrators. They’ll create 20-25 images and the book cover. The text is ready.
  2. The thriller “Sophia von X” will be published in February. I can’t tell the exact date, but I have the ability to work very hard during a short period of time… so, no worries!  The print cover is ready.
  3. If you are waiting for the “So Absurd It Must Be True” book 2 – it will be online before 1st April.

This year is crazy for Ray again – planning to publish 5 or 6 books. I’m going to slow down in 2021 though and publish only 1-2 books a year (I hope🔫 or kill me 😂).

Thank you all for a great support! I’m truly grateful to all who bought (and buying) my books and left the reviews. My first book “So Absurd It Must Be True” celebrated 1 year on 23d of January 2020. It got 29 reviews on Amazon (which is right now my main selling store) and 4 stars in snit. 💣💣💣

Stay tuned!
I’ll be here to entertain you… at least until May!
Ah, looking forward to that May-break already… so ray* 😂💃

  4. Still writing. Editing comes later, so yes, will do. I can do this. I can do this.

I got it from the beginning I think, I also answered, but maybe my answers are spammed now? 🧐 cuz WP do not recognise Ray after so long break haha
Yeah, it will be lots of work before May. Already dreaming about my next break 😂

  9. I see you worked a lot. Bravo and good luck with everything.

  10. 😂Hiya Victoria ‘writing in sex breaks’ Ray!

  11. You are so lucky with all the breaks. I should think about taking some. Glad to see you back at it. (I like the term ‘writing ax.’

    • Victoria Ray NB says:

You should take a week chill after you publish your next book … of coz not at once, considering we always have to promote and marketing like crazy during and after publishing, but later on…
Warning: very difficult to get back to writing after the break… I am still sooooo lazy, I don’t want anything 😂🙀🤐 I also started to watch ‘Monk’ series, and now I have to finish it somehow – and its 7 seasons lol

      • OMG. Good luck on the Monk. You just pointed out why I have not taken a break. (Getting back is hard) We’ll see…..😬

      • Victoria Ray NB says:

I’m on season 2 (which is 16 episodes)… just imagine!! And I have to edit the book. Life is truly suffering haha

      • An hour each? Let’s see. 16 hours viewing. Eight hours sleeping. Put everything else off til the weekend

      • Victoria Ray NB says:

I’m on season 4 lol 😂😂 I think I’ll be absolutely free by Monday. Then – editing 5 days, send to proof/copy (they can do in 5-7 days). Well, I can publish it 27-28 February 😂👻😀😉

      • I knw you would figure it out. 😂

      • Victoria Ray NB says:

I still have to cook food, walk dogs, shopping and gym in between 🙀🙀

      • Hire someone to watch for you. (Or wait. Hire someone to go to the gym for you. 😂)

  12. Tom Darby says:

    Yea! You’ve returned!

    • Victoria Ray NB says:

yep, I have to 😂 the world is happier and smarter with Ray in it :)) just kidding. I just feel bad about myself sitting, watching movies, eating and doing nothing lol

  13. I am not a published author, but I write everyday because I enjoy it.

  14. Wow! You really hit the ground running 👣👣👣👣👣🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

    • Victoria Ray NB says:

I just have to publish that thing (novel)… that’s why I’m back. I’m way to relaxed for an author. If I’d work every day – I’d write & publish 10 books a year but with all my breaks and chilling – 😂😂😂

    • Victoria Ray NB says:

also blogging is good for my language skills 🙂 I never speak English in Sweden; all I have – writing/reading/blogging

  15. Sorryless says:

Welcome back from the vacation, and good luck with the edit! 🙂

  16. Simon says:

Hi there Ray! It’s good to see you – good luck on getting all those books done this year! I’ll be keeping up with you best I can 🙂

    • Victoria Ray NB says:

Thank you, and how your things going? hope you’ll publish your book (stories?) this year… good luck!
I’ll come over to check your posts/news ✌️☕️

      • Simon says:

Thanks Ray! I need to write more to get to the publish stage… Fingers crossed for this year 😀

      • Victoria Ray NB says:

You can do it!!! 📚📚📚 write-edit -publish – repeat 👻

      • Simon says:

I know I can I just have to do it. When I get nearer the time can I seek out some of your expert advice?

  17. George F. says:

    Prolific you are!!!

    • Victoria Ray NB says:

me? no way! if I’d write every day ( let’s say at least 3-4 hours) – I would be able to publish 10 books a year. But I can ‘black out’ = chill, take a break and do nothing for WEEKS or MONTHS (I love doing nothing, I never stress about doing nothing…maybe I was born to do nothing?) … that’s why I’m publishing 4-6 books a year.

One more thing: it cost damn a lot to create book cover – so I started to make my own 😂😂
Of coz edit and proofing – always take the most money and is necessary (in my case), cuz I do not speak English on a daily basis.

      • George F. says:

4-6 books a year sound like a rocket launch to me…impressive, by my scale! And I don’t believe anyone notices your English skills lacking in any way…

      • Victoria Ray NB says:

yes.. but I don’t edit much. if I’d try to make my books perfect – it would be 1 in 2-3 years. I have no time to wait 😂 and I think editing is boring – I’m usually cutting all the damn text 😂
        thanks ☕️✌️

      • George F. says:

Editing…uh, ya mean I gotta read my own stuff again? LOL!

      • Victoria Ray NB says:

you could pick your posts and make a book from it…

      • George F. says:

That’s the goal if I can pull it together…thanks…

      • George F. says:

Flattery…flattery…that’s the only thing that keeps me writing…LOL!

    • Victoria Ray NB says:

      and thanks 🙂

  18. kinkyacres says:

To echo all the nice things folks have to say to you and about you!! Some , not so much!
    Enjoyable to see you back!

    • Victoria Ray NB says:

thank you, K… I’m still in a very slow mode* 🙂 but hopefully (if I’ll finish all 7 seasons of Monk till Monday) – I’d be able to push the book in the end of February, yay 😂😂😂😂

  19. Your energy and drive is staggering. But it’s good that you factor in some me time. Will the books next year be longer or a similar format to now.

    • Victoria Ray NB says:

Low on energy, but it is one the way 😂
      About books:
End of February – thriller (not long, 220-230 pages). Next – So Absurd, book #2 – about 200 pages. And then it will be 2 books – for kids & for middle-grade/young adult, plus later on -> Pearl Territory, sci-fi +fantasy for adults – about 220 pages. And maybe poetry, book #3 because I want make a bundle of three books (to sale at once all 3). That’s it ✌️. Later on I’m planning to work only on novels, it gives more money back :))

    • Victoria Ray NB says:

I don’t think I’m able to write very long books… I’m getting tired from the same heroes.
