Book cover ALERT! 🀑

What do you think?Β (May swapped ‘truth’ with ‘truths’ in the last two examples, but right now itΒ doesn’t matter, she’ll fix it later).

I think the last one (purple) is interesting, but a bit too empty (space above).
My husband liked the one with the blue skies/face – but it looks TOO spiritual (or too military?) to me. It’s so difficult with a cover for poetry book…aaaaaa πŸ™€πŸ˜‚

Hmmm… I can see the difficulty here. I thik it depends on the type of poetry. The purple cover is quite minimalist and if that’s your style it would be a good fit. The Blue sky cover to me suggest stretching thinking / imagination and different perspectives.

  2. Rekha says:

I liked all of them. 😁

    • Victoria Ray NB says:

Got it πŸ˜‚βœŒοΈ then nothing is good… πŸ˜…
No just kidding. I understand they look nice, but I don’t know…doesn’t work for me, not 100% 🧐🀨

  3. Anonymous says:

    2nd or 3rd look good! 😊

    • Victoria Ray NB says:

      I don’t know… I may get more cover-variants soon. We’ll see… I’m not wow-satisfied yet.
      And thank you πŸ™‚

  4. Edwin says:

    The first one.

  5. nickreeves says:

Nice. I like the smiley faced youths. It looks immediately fresh and readable, interesting. It’d catch my eye on a bookshelf. Good work πŸ™‚

  6. Edwin says:

Then nix the first one. πŸ™‚

  7. I like Numbet 3

  8. Edwin says:

Lastly, and this is just a suggestion: Stick with “truth” in the singular. It’s a focused approach that the word “truths” lacks. Just my opinion, though, so take it for what it’s worth. Good luck on your book.

    • Victoria Ray NB says:

Yes, she told she made a mistake but it’s just an example of cover, she’ll fix it later πŸ™‚
It will be β€œtruth” – in the title πŸ˜‰

    • Edwin says:

Sorry, reread your post. You are planning on going with “truth.” Congrats on your book.

      • Victoria Ray NB says:

        Thank you πŸ˜‰
I’ll share the end result (cover) later…when it’s ready.

  9. alexraphael says:

First and third were a bit too cluttered for me but the other three are all eye catching whichever you decide to go with.

  10. Visions says:

Looking through the keyhole 😘 You’re very welcome ☺️

  11. I’ll go with your hub. They are all good but I miss sth for the wow effect. Your absurd one wowed me. Any more ideas?

    • Victoria Ray NB says:

Yeah absurd cover is cool 😎 I’ll use it for book 2 next year!
I don’t know…so far, I have time to go thru many designs until I 100% like one.
      We’ll see. I’ll share later more πŸ™‚
Right now – I agree with you πŸ™‚

  12. Hyperion says:

Considering the holistic concept of Ray’s World in the book, keep trying. I think you are almost there. Get more into the true theme of the book and convert it to an image that latches onto the book browser like a bear trap and won’t let go until they buy the book. The 2nd cover gets close to the real Ray, maybe work that concept/style a little more. If Ray slaps her cheeks and says β€œHoly mother of Buddha, this is it!” Then you know its the right cover. I’m rooting for you. My piggy bank is bursting with coins so I can own some of Ray’s greatest works.

    • Victoria Ray NB says:

Thing is… I can’t find the image I like or the one that shows the theme/concept of the book.
But it will be fine at the end (hopefully πŸ˜‚πŸ‘€)… thank you – agreed with ur opinion:)

      • Hyperion says:

I think if you include visual erotica, ice cream, furry cute animals, and a singing bearded dragon, your book cover will have wide appeal and even if they think the contents suck, they’ll love the book coverand you’ll be rich and famous. Then you could hire a stunt woman to pretend she is Ray and go on book signings in sexy yoga pants and sign books with a pen she holds with her toes while doing a back bend. I can see it now, every news outlet world wide talking about Ray. I’d never do that because I’d lose my mind first, but you are totally cool and can handle it. πŸ˜‰

      • Victoria Ray NB says:

I want minimalistic cover πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ but I like your concept anyway:)
About a stunt woman πŸ‘©, damn! that too expensive- who’ve got money for this??😬
Also: I never go in yoga pants (outside)… u have kinda β€œwrong” image of Ray πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
Mmm, back bend – haha, id like to see it tho…

And yes, I’m soooo cool! I’m so cool I don’t wanna meet people on a daily basis haha πŸ˜‚

      • Hyperion says:

I suppose you are right not to try that stunt double trick because your fans will be stunned if they meet the real Ray and she isn’t wearing sexy yoga pants. Never mind. Don’t listen to me. I’ll get you in trouble with your adoring fans. πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸ™…πŸΌβ€β™€οΈπŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™‚οΈπŸ™…πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ

      • Victoria Ray NB says:

It’s kinda cold in Sweden πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ͺ:) we don’t see yoga pants that much πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
Yeah best if my fans will never meet me lol cuz i look like a mix of hippie & πŸ¦›!

But I can β€œpose” for a pic or two πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

      • Hyperion says:

I wonder if Sweden has fur lined yoga pants πŸ€”? Awwww, You are no πŸ¦›. Having curves is a good thing. Your fans will love you because you are cool and sophisticated. You can be any size or shape as long as you smile and have a good book cover. β˜ƒοΈ

      • Victoria Ray NB says:

        I’m not sure I’m curvy :)) I just love to eat …πŸ˜‚
Yeah, fur pants is something for us, brrrr πŸ₯Ά

        Sophisticated…like Google? πŸ˜‚ omg, I’m writing machine yo πŸ•ΊπŸ’ƒ

Book cover is on d wwwAaayyyyy πŸ¦Έβ€β™€οΈπŸ¦Έβ€β™€οΈπŸ¦Έβ€β™€οΈ

      • Hyperion says:

I get you now. Ray is a writing machine and of course you need a lot of fuel to keep your writing machine running, so eat all you want and keep those great novels coming.

      • Victoria Ray NB says:

        πŸ˜‚ I don’t think I’m writing machine tho. Did I write today? Nope 😹πŸ€ͺ , only comments!
β€˜Great novels’ are on the way πŸ‘»πŸ‘»πŸ₯žπŸ₯ž-everything: from sex haiku to murder mystery πŸ’₯πŸ‘€πŸ•ΊπŸ•ΊπŸ•Ί

  13. masercot says:

The second from the left is my favorite. Reminds me of Diego Rivera…

  14. Fiery says:

The only one I really liked was the purple. It is more dreamy and pensive than the others, if that makes sense and I think it suits a poetry book more. My eyes would be attracted to the black on purple.
Just my 2pence worth of an opinion
    Xxxx

    • Victoria Ray NB says:

Yes purple could work for a poetry book. But my book is β€œscarier” than that πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

    • Victoria Ray NB says:

      And thank you πŸ™‚

      • Fiery says:

Of course! You’re on of my faves around here x

      • Victoria Ray NB says:

        πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ‘‹πŸ˜

      • Fiery says:

So I had another look. Don’t hate me lol, but I don’t think any of them are perfect for what you’ve described.
If anything, I now like the faceless/back facing man, but I would prefer if it was a woman or if that thingy on the back of his head was something perhaps more… mysterious or non definable.
No idea if that makes sense and/or helps at all!
        πŸ˜†πŸ’‹

      • Victoria Ray NB says:

        Agreed πŸ™‚ and working further… πŸ˜…πŸ€ͺ🀯

  15. None of them is surreal or cool…if you want that! Wait for more if you are not 100% sure!

  16. Scarpoe says:

Gently increase the font on the purple one and it’s perfection.

    • Victoria Ray NB says:

      Maybe… I don’t know πŸ€”. I’ll get more during 2 days. I have 2 designers: female & male. We’ll see what male will create…

    • Victoria Ray NB says:

U r too kind πŸ™‚ I want something dark, humorous and surreal lol πŸ˜‚

  17. Sorryless says:

I’m with you on the purple book cover. I think hubby’s choice is cool, it has a certain Dali vibe to it. But of COURSE, being a lover of Poe, I dig the black with red font.

  18. Anonymous says:

I think the last one (purple) has the most “poetry” vibe. I get what you are saying about too much blank space. I’m sure that could be tweaked.

  19. I love the purple cover. Minimalism appeals to me. I love the second cover too, but I would probably have them looking through keyholes on the right and left side of the door so they aren’t looking at each other. There is truth through each keyhole.

    • Victoria Ray NB says:

Very difficult…then I have to draw a new keyhole-picture. No way! And plus the drawing isn’t mine πŸ˜‚

Well, purple looks nice (I like it too), but who knows where we end up πŸ‘»πŸ‘»πŸ‘€πŸ‘‹

    • Victoria Ray NB says:

And thank you for your opinion ✌️

  20. Anonymous says:

Like the 2nd and 3rd options. Definitely go with ‘Truth’ though.

    • Victoria Ray NB says:

Of coz β€œtruth” πŸ™‚ the title is β€œ42 degrees of truth” :))
      Thx for your opinion βœŒοΈπŸ˜ƒπŸ‘‹

  21. Rebecca says:

I really like the middle one! It’s fun and different and I would certainly pick it up 😁

  22. If your book is satirical poetry blended with lyrical & dark. I’d say the middle cover.
The one with the yellow happy faces. It brings s feel to the dark satirical poetic lyrics that you are going for in your book. πŸ™‚

  23. I would try a purple cover with the two smiley faced characters

  24. librepaley says:

For satire, I agree with the blue sky and wheat field. Wow, yet another genre!

  25. kinkyacres says:

Have too say I’m with the ‘blue sky and clouds’ (truth factor)

    • Victoria Ray NB says:

      No…it will be a blue giraffe πŸ™‚ sorry, K πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
I made my choose πŸ™‚ … like 5 min ago πŸ˜‰ cuz I got new designs

    • Victoria Ray NB says:

I couldn’t say β€œno” to blue giraffe πŸ¦’! Damn …my book is not that funny! But ah, who cares? πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

  26. stoneagedjp says:

If I saw those on a shelf, I would pick up the second one. Just seems the most interesting.

    • Victoria Ray NB says:

Really… I’m so bored nowadays, with everything …so it’s difficult to pick (choose) the book by the cover. It should be a bit crazy or I’ll go to classic names lol they don’t need any cover at all, just the name πŸ™‚

    • Victoria Ray NB says:

Thank you for your opinion πŸ’•πŸ’•

  27. robertcday says:

If it’s satirical poetry then there’s only one cover that fits: the one with the two young people and the cycle. Is the Truth obscured for a reason? If not, then perhaps it would fit into the space if it went from corner to corner – perhaps at the precise angle of 42 degree. πŸ˜€
I’m impressed greatly by these covers.
    Robert.

    • Victoria Ray NB says:

Thank you πŸ™‚ but unfortunately (or fortunately πŸ˜‚) I’ll go with pink unicorn πŸ¦„ & blue giraffe πŸ¦’ cover-designs πŸ™‚ it will be posted tomorrow.

I wasn’t πŸ’― sure about these above… not β€œme”, but very cool tho.

  28. CoffeeLander says:

    1. Too dark. Looks like a book of magic tricks for dummies.
    2. Funny. Looks like those Just for laugh books where nothing is actually worth laughing for.
    3. Short stories for kids?
    4. Good. Perhaps if you remove that figurine it would look much better. The simpler the better.
    5. Spy. How to spy on your girlfriend  or How to patch up with your best friend or what to think of when you are lonely? 
These are the first impression I got as went through the covers. I imagined there were all nicely displayed at a book store.
Sorry for being blunt. Apologies beforehand.

    • Victoria Ray NB says:

Thank you for your opinion, really fun to read πŸ™‚ especially about β€œspy” cover lol πŸ˜‚ I thought it looks very β€œlyrical” – kinda good for poetry, but I prefer something more β€œcrazy” so it will be so…we’ll see :))

      • CoffeeLander says:

Huh! Relieved. Sometimes you never know how opinions are taken. You turned out to be a matured writer. πŸ˜‰ Anyway, good luck.

      • Victoria Ray NB says:

I think it’s absolutely fine to discuss or don’t like the book cover πŸ™‚
        Or the book πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

        And thank you πŸ’•πŸ’•βœŒοΈ
