I am not what happened to me, I am what I choose to become.

Whatever you want, you will get, if your want is powerful, concentrated with the totality of your mind. The quote from South Indian scripture “The Thirukkural”

The mind has that kind of power! It can create anything. It can give you anything. But you have to want it, powerfully, strongly, deeply, and without any dissipation.

But if you want this

You will get this.

We are in the middle of february…the most boring month of the year, especially for us who is living in the north countries.
Thats why I’m going to post 2 more easy techniques for those who want to run away from “darkness/worry/unease/any kind of disturbance/blame/depression…”. I use them myself (mostly sound-technique).

The sound

Take a moment to listen. What can you hear? Just a general pulsating, kind of hubbub of noise. Yes, horrible noise! (I’m with you lol). But what if I’d tell you – you might be able to pick out ‘individual sounds’ from this noise.

door slamming
friendly female voice
a siren in the distance
a bird
a radio elsewhere in the building
the hum of air conditioning…etc

Ok, the list is endless. Even if you are in the quiet room – you can still hear sounds and pick them. Maybe your own breath? Maybe the floor? Neighbours… (hm, okay, lets stop right here. I don’t want you to sit close to the wall with that evil smile).

You understand – even SILENCE contains sounds.

What you have to do now?

-Choose the sound.
-Focus on that particular sound and try at least for 30 sec listen it. Really listen.
-You don’t need to think about anything (don’t think about breathing either, doesnt matter right now) – just try to listen to that sound you found (or want to). Enjoy the process of “listening”.
-You can practice for 30 sec or 1 min. Zero thoughts. Only listening of the sound.

Why is it so helpful? Because the sounds and thoughts are very similar. They are both kinda appear from NOWHERE. They are random and we have no control over their arising. The ear is the organ that receives sounds, the mind is the organ that receives thoughts. Its very difficult to hear the “raw’ sounds. Because any sound we are hearing activating our mind and we at once making associations. In the same moment.
Similar with our thoughts. Before we know it, the mind has leaped and bound into a past that we had long since forgotten or a future that has little basis in our reality. Ops! Here we go…we start to feel angry, sad, stressed, bitter, because our mind already building associations. In advance lol

To control the mind or to take a break and rest – try “the sound practice”

Ride the wave

There’s no wave, so don’t worry. You have to choose something (object/small) you could wear it with you everywhere you go. It should be something what makes you smile, or happy, or at least wake up those best memories (even if from the past…shouldn’t be bonded to any ex-wives or ex-boyfriends. Never. Ouch! Throw those things/objects away haha)

What you have to do now?

-In the moment you are starting to feel really sad, anxious, worried, angry etc – you have to take out of your pocket that object.
-You have to touch it. Look at it.
-You have to think about that happy moment.
-Follow your breath, in and out. 4-6 times.
-Take a look at your object again.
-Now you are ready to get back to your life.

The time is gone and you’ll feel better. I hope it will help.

Going to finish this post with 2 great quotes from Carl Jung:

“Your visions will become clear only when you can look into your own mind. Who looks outside – dreams; who looks inside – awakes’.

“Depression is like a woman in black. If she turns up, don’t shoo her away. Invite her in, offer her a seat, treat her like a guest and listen to what she wants to say.”

This is how we deal with it. Right? 🙂

  1. I carry with me ‘music’ in my head. Reading this has brought to the front “Sounds of Silence” Simon and Garfunkel (long time ago). Their ability to sing the song in such a way, to enable it to tattoo itself to my brain, is not unlike the way your blogs have with your words. (just tryin to socialize)
