Books fall open, you fall in…

There is no WP-life without ‘awards’. Thanks to great blog ‘Daughter’s Diary’

1. What’s your favorite fiction?

A good book, any genre. The older I am the more I think that ‘genre’ doesn’t matter – I simply prefer to read ‘a well written book’, preferably with an interesting writing style or heroes to relate.

A good book should leave you… slightly exhausted at the end. You live several lives while reading it. William Styron

😁 I got an idea now – to write/publish a book in each genre.

About favs: I remember I read the book (russian) when I was 8-10 yo about two boys travelling thru a green glue-ish-river, saving kids from the Kingdom that has been ruled by mean people with the crocodile heads.
I don’t remember the title or author. And I still can’t find it. Sigh

2. What is your favorite non fiction?

I love non-fiction more than fiction.
Favs: for example, “The Gulag Archipelago”, Solzhenitsyn and anything from Edward Radzinsky (its historical fiction/non fiction united).

I only read biographies, metaphysics and psychology. I can dream up my own fiction. Mae West

3. E-books or hard copy and why?

I have 1 Kobo and 1 Kindle Oasis. I’ve stopped buying a hard copy or print. I go to the local library instead. E-books are easy to use and don’t need much space. But when I want to order a good old book (often science or non-fiction) – I can’t find any e-version on amazon, only print. Ouch!

4. What is your pet peeve?

Mmmm. People, I guess 😂
Also: I don’t like manicure, because the sound of peeling (nails) annoys and irritates me. It reminds me ‘the scratching sound of nails on the stone’.
Plus: When people are talking while I’m reading the book.
And: When my dogs are barking and the person they are barking at is just standing there, and watching…I mean, really? Walk away!

5. Book you were reluctant to try but enjoyed later?

Almost 😂 every second book…

6. How many books in your to be read list this year?

I’d like to read at least 70 books. But if I read less (or more) – its fine too. My point – to read different (in style) books or ‘well written’, or ‘classics’.
My GoodReads profile

7. How many books have you read so far this year ?

I read 30, but at the end of this week it will be 33.

I love the solitude of reading. I love the deep dive into someone else’s story, the delicious ache of a last page. Naomi Shihab Nye

8. Which is your favorite memoir/auto biography ?

Each memoir is exceptional and magical read, an act of memory, perception and history.

Each of us is a book waiting to be written, and that book, if written, results in a person explained. Thomas M. Cirignano

9. Book that is on your to be read list from many years but you still haven’t gotten around to read it?

“Blindness”, Jose Saramago

10. Book/s you are currently reading?

“Journey of souls”, Michael Newton
“Becoming”, Michelle Obama
“The Big Tiny”, Dee Williams

11. Have you read my blog? If so do you like it?

I have to say I don’t read blogs so often now, probably 2-3 times a week, but I think your blog is cool! Continue and have fun!

Feel free to answer those 11 question as well. Have a great day! And control your senses… because they are the windows for the mind.

Buying books would be a good thing if one could also buy the time to read them; but as a rule the purchase of books is mistaken for the appropriation of their contents. Arthur Schopenhauer

I agree on Solzhenitsyn and recommend The Cancer Ward. Blindness is an excellent book as well; but, not as good as its sequel, Blank.

Saramago also wrote a novel about the life of Christ that is pretty stunning.

    • Victoria Ray NB says:

I’ve heard about “Blank” as well… don’t know where to start even 😅 but def will read both one day! Soon 🕺🕺✈️

When you write in every genre, it will be fun to read you!!! (that sounded odd….) I prefer fiction over non. My real life is more than enough reality and I loved your answer about books you were reluctant to read! I think I read about 12 books a month…if I can, less if I can’t get to the library. GREAT post!!

Your pet peeves totally made me laugh. You could easily give it its own post. Always fun to find out more about you. I hop you find that Russian book again. I hope to find my own copy of Apple Bough, or even met someone who has read it.

    • Victoria Ray NB says:

😂 or maybe 1 post wouldn’t be enough for my pet peeves. Yes I need spend more time at checking old russian books for teens & I’ll def find the author. And nope I never read Apple Bough but the title is cool 😀😉

      • alexraphael says:

Part of your charm I’m sure. Quite a few of mine are grammar related. And people who give spoilers away. Apple Bough is delightful. I read it around a similar time to The Silver Sword so have a big soft spot for them both.

      • Victoria Ray NB says:

Read your book yesterday…finally 😂👋 loved it! I’ll write review on Amazon/Goodreads today ev – or tomorrow. I’ll spend day at airport (day time), my mum is leaving …✈️✈️
